THE REPORT OF MINISTRY OF CULTURE ABOUT KESLÝK VÝLLAGE
(THE PRESENTATÝON OF KAYSERÝ MUSEUM DIRECTOR)

Keslik Koyu, is 4 km far from Kayseri’s Yesilhisar town. The village has 90 to 100 stone buildings. It is composet of three distrits which are Asagi, Yukari an dere. The village is a settlement area which is backed on the South of the Karatepe slope. The Kastel is composed of the historical and naturel rocks and it is the part of the Karatepe slopes, is surrounded the village from the back side to west. Karatepe and Kastel are places which looks to the town as half moon.
In the village plan, the South and of the village is described as an old settlement area which is composed with latest days ruined village houses basements. Besides these in the village there are historical churches and shalters which have been curved in stones like in Urgup –Goreme and Yesilhisar – Soganli. The village has historical and natural places. In this historical site you can enter to the stone cave from the shape of half moon enterence. With the narrow there corridors, in which ewen one person can walk difficult, go deep insides of the cve. Two of these corridors are fullfiled with stones and soil. The third road led the second cave room and from there with corridors to other rooms.
But, the enterance of corridors are closed, therefore it has been impossible to go through. It might be an undergraund city like Nevsehir – Derinkuyu –Kaymakli which is met often.
There is an stone church which is called Canli Kilise on the left side of the entrance desribed as an undrgraund city. The domm entrance which was 7 meters high has collapsed. On the walls of the church has several painting’s traces. The back yard of the church is used as places for pigeons.
If we move to the South from the Canli Kilise you can reach to the cape which has natural stone caves and shalters. There is a stone church against the cape, inside several traces of wall paintings. Fallowing the rocks to the South west, you can see small caves and shalters on the high of the rocks. The part of these are used as places for pigeons.
On the South of the Karatepe slopes as described th latest natural shaped, are Konferans salonu (Conferans Hall) and Gozetleme Kulesi (Observation Tower). The both of them are named by peasants. Although the observation tower is thougth to be used as an observation. It is strange that is made on the lower rocks. The place described as Conferans Hall, is the ground flor of stone churches have the is circle shaped stone door entrance in South – east.
To summarize, Keslik village is 4 kilometers from Yesilhisar town, 10 kilometers from Soganli and on the Yesilhisar – Urgup road. Keslik village can be opened for tourizm with these natural and historical places.
The stone church, cave and shalters is thouth to be made on Byzantine period, 7’th and 8’th centures AC in Kastel, has been under protection by the Commission of Kayseri, Cultur an Natural Places Prodection, on April20’th of 1988, with, 178’th resolution.
